Mean Platelet Volumes in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD): Relationship to Cardiovascular Events
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is commonly associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes and the metabolic syndrome, and is now recognized as the most common cause of chronic liver disease in Western countries [1-3]. NAFLD encompasses a histological spectrum of liver disease from hepatic steatosis to the more advanced necroinflammatory form, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which can then lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. NAFLD patients have increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular (CV) disease with CV disease being the leading cause of death [1,2,46]. NAFLD is an independent risk factor despite association with traditional risk factors and the metabolic syndrome [1]. At this time the link between NAFLD and CV disease is not well established.

Assessment of Subclinical Myocardial Changes in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A Case-Control Study Using Speckle Tracking Echocardiography
Background: Considering the association between cardiac abnormalities and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between biopsy-proven NAFLD and functional echocardiographic parameters, including left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) in asymptomatic individuals. Methods: Thirty asymptomatic patients with liver biopsy-prov...

Background: The world is now in the process of passing on health to non-diseases chronic, like non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD) is a major cause of changes in the lifestyle of people. This study aims to evaluate the effects of lifestyle on fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods: For this critical review, we identified articles by searching original studies and review articles published in peer ...
متن کاملEvaluation of the effects of resveratrol on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease A systematic review study
Introduction: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition in which triglycerides accumulate in liver cells without a history of alcohol consumption. Evidence has shown that auxiliary treatments, including the use of antioxidant compounds, can be effective in improving nonalcoholic fatty liver. Resveratrol is an antioxidant compound that has been shown to be beneficial in some disea...
متن کاملMean platelet volume and its relationship with carotid atherosclerosis in subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Mean platelet volume (MPV), a determinant of platelet activation, is an emerging risk factor for atherothrombosis. AIMS The aim of this study was to investigate the levels of MPV in subjects with NAFLD having no confounding factors for atherosclerosis such as obesity, diabetes mellit...
متن کاملNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease and cardiovascular risk
The term "Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease" (NAFLD) covers a series of liver lesions similar to those induced by alcohol, but not caused by alcohol use. The importance of NAFLD lies in the high prevalence in Western societies and, from the point of view of the liver, in its progression from steatosis to cirrhosis and liver cancer. More recently, NAFLD has been found to be associated with lipid...
